LET ME TELL YOU A BIT ABOUT ME

Ever since I could remember, I loved to write.  I was always making up stories and writing them down.  Yes, I was one of those kids with a very VIVID imagination.  I was published in second grade and that was it. I knew I wanted to be a published writer.  Fast forward many years. I realized I wasn't getting any younger. If I was going to make my dream come true to see my stories in print, I was going to have to get serious about it.  That's how the Twin Ponds Mystery Series was born.  I've vacationed in Maine and I knew that was the perfect place to set my stories.  I wish I could tell you how Cammie, Doc, Jace, Rick and Emmy came to life, but to be honest, they pretty much invented themselves.  A few of the characters are loosely based on people I've known; others are a mix of several people rolled into one.  Whenever I sit down to write, I feel as though I'm returning to a beloved location and visiting with very dear friends.

I'm happy to see that many of you feel the same way.

As for my life away from the keyboard, I live deep in the woods in New Hampshire, surrounded by the beauty of nature and its wildlife that I try to capture in my writing.  Many of my ideas for my plots come to me when I'm out walking my three dogs - Lilyrose, my elderly

LET ME TELL YOU A BIT ABOUT MYSELF

Ever since I could remember, I loved to write.  I was always making up stories;  yes, I was one of those kids with a very VIVID imagination.  When I was in second grade, a little story I wrote was miraculously published in the school newspaper and that was it. I knew then I wanted to be a published writer.  Fast forward many years. Life happened and before I knew it,  I realized that if I was going to make my dream come true of seeing my stories in print, I was going to have to get serious about it.  That's how the Twin Ponds Mystery Series was born. I've always been fascinated by the human condition - what makes us the way we are.  Murder mysteries have a way of combining the best and the worst human beings have to offer.  Once I had the general feel of my characters, I needed a remote location that would be the perfect backdrop for their experiences.  Having vacationed in Maine many times and knowing there are parts of the state that are still pristine wilderness, I knew that was the perfect place to set Twin Ponds in.

So how did Cammie, Doc, Jace, Rick, Emmy and the rest of the inhabitants of Twin Ponds come to life? A few of the characters are loosely based on people I've known; others are a mix of several people rolled into one.  I've tried to capture what it means to be human - our foibles, our heartaches, our pain, our hate, that part of ourselves we keep hidden away.  Yet, I've also tried to capture our redemption, our willingness to forgive, to love deeply, to move on with a life we know is a gift.  That's why I consider what I create mysteries with a heart.  And each time I sit down to write, I feel as though I'm returning to a beloved location and visiting with very dear friends.

As for the Coffin Islands Paranormal Mysteries, I've been part of a paranormal investigation team for over ten years.  I've seen some pretty - shall we say - interesting things. I've also been studying shamanism for over twenty years.  I've taken aspects of both and combined them in this series (and in the Twin Ponds series as many of you have noticed and commented on most graciously).  I love the horror genre and am happy to introduce Deputy Ellis Martin to my family of characters.  You may have met him in An Equal Measure of Murder.  Now he's on his own, tackling murders on a set of islands that are anything but serene and restless.  I mean, you do know they're cursed, right?

The Ghost Seekers Paranormal Mysteries, my new young adult series, came about when my friend J.S. Stephens, who I have known forever, and I were talking about our own paranormal experiences. We realized it would be fun to take some of our adventures and incorporate them into a young adult/teen horror series. To make it even more enjoyable, we include how-to's at the end of each book on how to deal with the paranormal and, with my own shamanic teachings, how to navigate energy on a daily basis. Although this is targeted for young adults, people of all ages can enjoy the books.

When I'm not writing, I live deep in the woods in New Hampshire, surrounded by the beauty of nature and its wildlife that I try to capture in my writing.  Many of my ideas for my plots come to me when my husband and I are out walking our two dogs - Zoey, our Boston Terrier rescue, and Abby, our Catahoula/Mastiff rescue.

Enough about me now.  I've got to get back to writing!
